42. Feeling Good

Birds flyin’ high, you know how I feel
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by, you know how I feel
It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me.
Yeah, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me,
And I’m feelin’ good

We were the only pilgrims in the albergue again last night. We decided to skip dinner in the bar and instead bought bread and cheese from the little shop. It’s a good job we never went for pasta… because we discovered that the fabulous albergue kitchen was equipped with a plate a bowl a fork and a soup spoon… and absolutely nothing else.
Regardless we had a comfy night, slept well and enjoyed a little bit of a lie in this morning… and left in the light now the clocks have gone back.

We had yoghurt and croissant for breakfast and even managed a quick cafe con leche from the bar across the road before heading off to meet up with a very special pilgrim!

The mist that we’ve grown accustomed to over the last few days was there to greet us again this morning.  The sun was rising through the trees and I inadvertently started humming a little Nina Simone.  Maggie finished the lyric that I didn’t remember and it felt so perfect for this morning that I found the song on my phone and we walked along on this rather splendid morning listening… such a beautiful morning !

I could tell you about the pile of steaming poo… the dogs… the horses… the hunters and their guns.  I could wax lyrical about the hills and the views but to be honest time is pressing. . because… just before we hit the outskirts of Ourense a certain Mr Sims found us on the road and drove us into town.

We parked in the station car park and walked back to the centre to find our hotel.  We’ve eaten… just a few hours in and already churros and hot chocolate have been consumed… ooh our camino will be very different from now on!

We’ve got 100 kilometres left to walk… and yep… today I’m feeling pretty good.

Song for today “Lean on me when you’re not strong, we all need someone to lean on ….” – you can sing it to Gerry on the camino!!!!!
